Art and Mice Exhibition Curators Nominated for Award!

Passports: The Art Diversity Project is proud to announce its recognition along with McCormack Baron and Salazar, Inc. for the Work of Art Awards in the category of Art and Business Collaborations. The event was hosted by the Greater Pittsburgh Arts Council who planned a star-studded evening including a red carpet entrance with paparazzi, at the home of the new Pittsburgh Opera in the Strip District. Passports has hosted a number of artistic events and in the city, and is currently the organizer of the Art and Mice exhibition for children.

Hellol We will be posting here as we move forward with our plans for this special art exhibition which your entire family will soon be able to visit and enjoy throughout the Pittsburgh area. Any place we have listed with a "p/c" after the title, parent and child may want to read together, so you can keep up with our plans for the exhibition. We will also post information about recycling, "green" innovation and other and other items of interest to parents and children. Much of what we write will be in a child-friendly format. Plus we invite you and your child to post comments or ideas, too as you follow our blog.

WHY THE MONA LISA IS OUR MUSE p/c

The Mona Lisa, 31x21 inches, was painted by Leonardo da Vinci between 1503 and 1506 on a piece of pine wood that has become the most famous painting in the world. Billions have seen the painting, which hangs in the LOURVE, an art museum in France. We like the painting because it is a "classic" (We talk about classics in our "How our Story Began" post). Mona Lisa is more famous than any movie star. Her face and her smile are known all over the world! She inspires us, which is what a "muse" does. Inspiration is what makes art. This wonderful painting says volumes about the importance and power of art. But the most talked about element of this painting is Mona Lisa's smile. It has started millions of discussions about "smiles." Our "Of Art and Mice" exhibition is all about smiles too. Art based on classics that make you smile! And that's why the Mona Lisa is our Muse.
